we gave mike the morning off. happy to report we don't have any serious collision across the greater bay area. as we head throughout the afternoon hours, we'll lose whatever we see in terms of reduced visibility by 9:00 a.m. hazy out there. not too bad. this morning i think frost is more of a factor with temperatures in the upper 20s in north bay cities to start. this is an improvement. moderate air quality as you can recall we had spare the air three times last week. no longer is that the case. high pressure still taking the storm track to the north. winds picked up and that helped to purify air quality a little bit. through the next couple days onshore flow will help to improve that situation even more so with the return of the moisture and the fog and the low clouds. but not until wednesday. today and tomorrow we enjoy the upper 60s. even a couple isolated 70s in places like santa cruz and gilroy. 65 in san francisco today. and then wednesday a little bit of fog and drizzle. still staying mild temperaturewise.

meteorologist mike augustyniak is watching the cold weather this morning. >> thanks, charlie and norah. it's been brutally cold again this morning, sitting at 9 below in the twin cities of minneapolis and st. paul, 25 below in international falls, marquette 15 below. windchills approaching 40 below in international falls, 27 below in green bay, 31 below in marquette and chicago along with detroit in the teens below zero when you factor in that wind. at least here in the upper midwest it's actually better than yesterday. the coldest windchill yesterday, little town on the north shore of lake spearer, grand marais 54 below. 40 below in minot. coming up dangerous amounts of cold. windchills 25 to 35 below. blue shaded areas, cleveland, pittsburgh buffalo, feeling 10 to 5 below and frost bite on the skin 10 to 15 minutes. by tomorrow the coldest of the cold will push slightly to the east. it will feel 25 to 40 below late tonight early tom low in marquette, around milwaukee for sure, just approaching chicago. detroit 10 to 25 below, pittsburgh same thing, another pocket of brutally cold win

mike mentioned, it is cold and brisk. for the afternoon mostly sunny skies. temperatures will be cooler than what we felt on saturday. i will line up your numbers and show you what i see coming up. >>> we begin with a developing story of a tragedy in south america. at least 245 people are now dead in a nightclub fire in southern brazil. we want to show you the first pictures of the aftermath that are coming into our newsroom. the fire broke out at the kiss nightclub during a concert. that club reached maximum capacity with up to 2,000 party goers inside. the casualty toll is expected to climb. at least 200 pay tree quantities were hurt. a nearby gym has been turned into a makeshift morgue. investigators say it's too early still to figure out the cause of the fire. stay tuned throughout county -- stay tuned to ktvu throughout the morning for more updates. >>> ktvu alex savidge just arrived on scene. what can you show us? what can you tell us? >> reporter: i can tell you this is a pretty good sized fire that is burning here at the lee high hanson cement plant.
